Parish Council Update

The Parish Council is building reserves to provide for teenage equipment in the village and the need to identify a potential location is key to its progression.  Originally, there was going to be S106 monies towards Public Open Spaces from the Mountain Oak development but these have been diverted to provide for 12 affordable housing units.

The recent Housing Needs Survey showed that 11 affordable housing units were required in Sampford Peverell – you can see the breakdown below:

The Parish Council is aware of the concerns regarding car parking problem in the village and is awaiting the results of the HATOC consultation on ‘no waiting at any time’ on Lower Town at the Tiverton Parkway turning.

The Parish Council has raised the matter with Devon County Council and believes that additional parking must be provided at Tiverton Parkway especially in light of bus replacement services which often see the old car park actually at the station closed.

As part of the Joint Traffic Working Group with members Burlescombe, Halberton, Sampford Peverell, Uffculme and Willand, the Parish Council is hoping that the voice of five councils will be stronger than one when it comes to improving road infrastructure in the area. One vital improvement needed at the Lower Town / A361 junction is the provision of direct access to and from the west, so avoiding traffic having to use the Junction 27 roundabout which is already overcrowded and beyond its limited capacity.
