Northbound contraflow now in place - upcoming closures Despite the poor weather in late January, our works to move the contraflow system to the northbound carriageway went well. We now have two lanes running in each direction with all traffic using the northbound carriageway in contraflow.

Upcoming closures and diversions

From 9pm Friday 7 February until 6am Monday 10 February, inclusive

The M5 southbound junction 27 entry and exit slip roads will be closed.

We’ll divert traffic by junction 26 (Wellington) and junction 28 (Cullompton).

From 9pm Monday 10 February until 6am Tuesday 11 February

The M5 southbound junction 27 entry slip road will be closed.
Revised diversion route: We’ll divert traffic by junction 26 (Wellington) and back.

From Friday 21 February for four nights

The southbound M5 will be closed overnight (9pm to 6am) between junction 28 (Cullompton) and junction 26 (Wellington) for four nights.

We’ll divert traffic by the A38 and B3181.

Please also see exit slip road closure below.

From 9pm Friday 21 February until 6am Monday 24 February, inclusive

The M5 southbound junction 27 exit slip road will be closed.

We’ll divert traffic by junction 28 (Cullompton) and back during the day. At night, traffic will be diverted by the A38 and B3181 due to the full overnight closures stated above.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.
